"Did not load" is one automated check and includes addresses that no longer exist. A missing viewport tag is a code check: in real-phone tests we found about 38% of such sites still fit the screen, so it is a warning sign, not a verdict.

Five things to check on your own site

  1. Repair vs. replacement explained in plain words
  2. Materials you install (shingle, metal, flat) listed
  3. Photos of your own finished roofs
  4. How estimates work, and whether they are free
  5. Storm or insurance-claim help, only if you provide it

A quick self-check: open your site on your phone. If you have to pinch to read it, add <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> to the page's head, or ask whoever built it.

How we measured

Listings come from open business data (Overture Maps, Foursquare open places, and some state and city license files). For each website address on a listing, our crawler fetched the home page once (Oct 28 to Nov 4, 2026), respecting robots.txt, and recorded whether it loaded, whether it used https, whether the HTML has a mobile viewport tag, and any copyright year shown. Addresses that failed were re-checked later; the confirmed count is shown separately. Business counts are listings in our data, not a census, and a business can be listed under more than one trade.
