"Did not load" is one automated check and includes addresses that no longer exist. A missing viewport tag is a code check: in real-phone tests we found about 38% of such sites still fit the screen, so it is a warning sign, not a verdict.

Five things to check on your own site

  1. Your phone number at the very top, as a tap-to-call link
  2. Emergency or after-hours service stated plainly, if you offer it
  3. The towns and neighborhoods you serve, written out
  4. Your license number, if your state issues one
  5. Real photos of your trucks, crew or jobs instead of stock images

A quick self-check: open your site on your phone. If you have to pinch to read it, add <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> to the page's head, or ask whoever built it.

How we measured

Listings come from open business data (Overture Maps, Foursquare open places, and some state and city license files). For each website address on a listing, our crawler fetched the home page once (Oct 28 to Nov 4, 2026), respecting robots.txt, and recorded whether it loaded, whether it used https, whether the HTML has a mobile viewport tag, and any copyright year shown. Addresses that failed were re-checked later; the confirmed count is shown separately. Business counts are listings in our data, not a census, and a business can be listed under more than one trade.
